Golden Colours

Golden Colours Page!

Golden Colours
One of the things I love most about golden British Shorthairs is that no two coats look quite the same. “Golden” describes the warm colour beneath the coat, which can range from soft honey to rich apricot. The colour at the ends of the hairs creates another layer of beauty.
At Belantine, you may see goldens in several colours:
  • Black golden has dark black tipping over a warm golden coat, often giving a striking contrast.
  • Blue golden has soft blue-grey tipping for a gentler, cooler look.
  • Chocolate golden has warm brown tipping that blends beautifully with the gold beneath.
  • Lilac golden has delicate, pale lilac tipping and a particularly soft appear Shaded or tipped: what is the These words describe how much colour appears at the end of each hair. A shaded golden has colour extending further down the hair, creating a more noticeable veil across the back, head and tail. A very lightly tipped golden has colour on only the outermost ends of the hairs, allowing more of the golden base to shine through.
Both can be breathtaking. Even within the same colour, one kitten may look deep and richly shaded while another looks pale and luminous. A kitten’s coat can also change as it grows, so its adult colouring may look different from its baby photos.
That variety is part of the magic of goldens: each one wears its colour in its own way. As does any British in any colour.
